I know I probably say this time and again but this magazine really is a labour of love by a whole team of people (myself included) so I really hope you enjoy this Summer issue
Lots of gorgeous jubilee-inspired products inside, as well as fab interviews, recipes, gardening tips, events and much much more!
Guildford Spring Craftacular
This great event will be taking place in the heart of Guildford, Surrey this Saturday 28th April. If you’re in the area why not pop along to support your local designer-makers. The event is organised by a dedicated trio of designer-makers in their own right and will feature the work of 25+ local makers. There will also be DELICIOUS food put on by one of my favourite British gastro-cafes Glutton & Glee (seriously good food!)…you can read my review of the cafe here: http://www.thisisyourkingdom.co.uk/her-kingdom/places-to-eat-surrey-glutton-glee-cafe-guildford/ There will even be a fab crafting table for the kids so why not make a nice Spring shopping day of it.
Heart Zeena Sample Sale!
One of my favourite designers, London-based Zeena Shah of Heart Zeena (you may have seen her designs in paperchase) is having a fab sample sale at her East London Studio (15 Boot Street, London N1 6HJ)!
Definitely one to check out if you’re in the vicinity as Zeena’s designs are just gorgeous. I am already the proud owner of one of her stunning limited edition lambswool lovebird throws (>_<)
Handmade L<3ve: Blossoms
Thought I’d make this Wednesdays my “handmade L<3ve” day and share some of the gorgeous, amazing stuff I come across on my travels. These are the things that make me go “oooh” and “aaaah”……..particularly as these all feature “blossoms” of some sort (^_-) and anyone who knows me will know that that’s my thang!
DIARY: The Australian Tapestry Workshop
During my recent month-long trip to Melbourne, Australia I was treated to a personal guided tour (by the gorgeous Amanda Kelly) around the Australian Tapestry Workshop which produces stunning contemporary tapestries! The workshop collaborates with many well known artists (both Australian and international) to produce one-off commissions which adorn private collections, embassies, civic buildings, galleries, museums, schools and universities around the world!
The tapestry below, based on an original screenprint by artist David Noonan, had just been completed and was therefore still on the loom…it literally took my breath away..I am sure you can see why!
Loom 4, Artist: David Noonan, Title: Untitled
Size: 2.0 x 1.63m, Weavers: Emma Sulzer – Cheryl Thornton
Work commenced: October 2011
